Angus Fletcher – drummer
Growing up in a musical environment with very musical parents while having anything from soul, to blues, to jazz playing around the house from a young age was probably my initial bump into a love for music.
I’ve always loved the community in music and hearing music evolve through community, into something different while also paying homage to the true, undeniable roots.
My main influences rhythmically would mainly be derived from more jazz/jazz-fusion, Latin and funk drummers like Damion Reid, Robert Searight, Brian Blade, Bernard Purdie, Justin Brown, Mark Colenburg, Karriem Riggins, to name a few, while also drawing inspiration from predominantly blues drummers as well, like Steve Jordan and Sam Lay.
Although my drumming is not oriented around blues to a huge extent I still have a feel and love for it. Blues has always been a staple for me and I’ve grown up with it always being around me. There’s no doubt that it’s stuck with me.
